About the street

Avenue Princesse-Grace runs some 3.5 kilometres along the Larvotto shore, named after Grace Kelly – who, in Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief, points at the road that would later carry her name. Most of the land here was acquired by the developer Gildo Pastor after the Second World War; when the railway was buried and Prince Rainier III allowed high-rise building in 1966, apartment towers and hotels rose along it.

Its line of landmarks reads like a timeline of modern Monaco: the Villa Sauber, one of the last Belle Époque villas; Le Bahia and Le Formentor by Michel Ravarino; the Sporting of 1974; Le Roccabella of 1982 by Gio Ponti and Michel Ravarino; the Grimaldi Forum of 2000; the Monte-Carlo Bay of 2005. In between, the Japanese Garden, the Larvotto beach clubs and some twenty restaurants – and the Sporting's Jimmy'z at no. 26.
