The Grimaldi Forum was inaugurated on 20 July 2000 by Prince Rainier III and Prince Albert II, part of Rainier's plan to make Monaco a centre of European business tourism, and stands on land won from the sea beside the Japanese Garden. It is the home of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and stages the principality's large summer exhibitions – Monet in 2023, Turner with the Tate in 2024 – with two modular halls, three auditoriums and twenty-two meeting rooms. A 6,000 m² extension, 2,000 m² of it outdoors, opened on 16 January 2025.
