About the street
Avenue d'Ostende climbs from the harbour to Monte-Carlo – the Grand Prix's uphill run from Sainte-Dévote to Massenet, at gradients of about twelve per cent. It is named after the Belgian resort of Ostend, twinned with Monte-Carlo since 1958, and at no. 12 stands the Théâtre Princesse-Grace, the SBM's Art Deco theatre of 1932.
