The Monte-Carlo Sporting opened on 2 June 1974 on the Larvotto shore, at the eastern edge of the principality, and took over most of the society nights from the Sporting d'Hiver in town; it was renovated in 1999. Run by the Société des Bains de Mer, it gathers a concert hall, a casino and restaurants, and is the stage of the Red Cross Ball, the Rose Ball and the Sporting Summer Festival.
