Le Bar Américain opened in 1929 in the Hôtel de Paris: carved wood, leather armchairs and a pianist or singer most evenings, playing jazz, blues or French chanson. The list runs from whisky and champagne to signature and classic cocktails; it is also where Roger Moore and Tony Curtis first meet in The Persuaders, in 1971.
