The chapel of Saint Barbara stood on the Place du Palais, then the Place d'Armes, where the gunners and the garrison heard Sunday mass. Sold in 1793 with the garrison headquarters, it served for a time as a store, and the principality's registry and state-property offices now stand on the site, at the corner of the Ruelle Sainte-Barbe.
