The Stade Nautique Rainier III on Route de la Piscine, in Port Hercule, began as a sectioned-off part of the harbour by 1949 and was expanded in 1961: a heated Olympic-size salt-water pool with diving boards from one to ten metres and a 45-metre slide. From December to March it becomes a 1,000 m² ice rink, and it gave the Grand Prix its Swimming Pool chicane.
